Music
In addition to the songs taught
by the classroom teacher, there is a special music teacher who enables
the children to delve deeper into different aspects of music; i.e.,
introduction of many musical instruments, learning to sing at different
volume levels and varied tempos, learning to hear the beat of the song
and move their bodies to that beat through marching, clapping and the
use of musical instruments. Kindergarten classes learn to play basic
notes on the soprano recorder and perform simple songs.

Spanish
Conversational Spanish is taught twice
a week in all of the five day classes
in order to familiarize children with the sounds of another language
and its culture. While we do not expect our students to become proficient
in Spanish, we hope that it will teach them to perceive sounds that
are unfamiliar to them and lay the foundation for other languages.
Creative Dance
At this age, gross motor and tumbling
activities are another important aspect of development. The children
learn specific positions, routines, creative movement and directional
concepts. Our end of the year recital, is a culmination of all their
practicing and hard work, and is enjoyed by all.

Drama
Children
in the three and five day classes participate in the drama program.
The children are introduced to acting out familiar stories and characters.
These opportunities stimulate their imagination and creativity while
building self-confidence.
