Frequently Asked Questions

Accotink Academy Preschool was established in 1964. We are a developmental program with emphasis on the whole child. Our program is center based and provides the children with opportunities to learn through play.

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about our program.

- Our lead teachers all have degrees, as do most of our assistant teachers.

- We offer classes 2, 3, or 5 half days a week. In addition, we have Junior Kindergarten, Half Day Kindergarten and a Full Day Kindergarten.

- Am Classes meet from 8:45 - 11:45

- PM Classes meet from 12:30 - 3:30

- Each class is limited to 16 students with 2 teachers.

- Classes are formed by birth date of the children.

- Sunshine Summer camp is offered from early June to mid July. Information for this summer camp becomes available by mid-February of each year.

- The curriculum includes the following special classes:

2 day classes - Creative dance and music
3 day classes - Creative dance , music and drama
5 day classes - Creative dance, music, Spanish (twice a week) and drama.

- Our program is an "open door policy". Parents are welcome to participate as little or as much as they are able.

- We have limited transportation available for students in the AM classes.

- Field trips are a part of our curriculum.

- Snacks are provided by the school.
